People Caring About People Since 1950

The story of Sun Federal Credit Union began in 1950 with ten Toledo Sun Oil employees and a cigar box. After one of them was denied a loan from the local bank to add a front porch to their home, the group pooled their funds together in a cigar box to lend the family the money they needed. It was an opportunity for them to support and invest in themselves and their community—and we’ve continued that mission, growing into a 30,000+ member institution that serves hardworking people, businesses, and organizations.

We provide personal service and a secure, trustworthy, and local place for our members to save, borrow, and invest in themselves. As a not-for-profit, full-service financial institution, we’re focused on our members’ stories above their credit scores and are committed to making a difference for our members, one front porch at a time.
